Bobcats Sweep Glenville State in Straight Sets to Stay Perfect in MEC Play

The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team extended its strong start in Mountain East Conference action with a dominant 3–0 sweep over Glenville State on Friday evening inside Rockefeller Center. The Bobcats controlled the match from start to finish, posting set scores of 25–23, 25–16, 25–17 to improve to 10–4 overall and 2–0 in MEC play

Wesleyan's balanced attack proved too much for the Pioneers. Emily Denison and Bhrooke Axe each tallied a team-high nine kills, with Denison hitting an impressive .375 and Axe finishing at .333 while adding three blocks. MacKenna Halfin provided a spark off the bench with eight kills at a .500 clip and added two block assists, while Emonie Fennell was nearly perfect, striking .727 with eight kills on 11 swings

Overall, Wesleyan hit .311 as a team, committing just 12 errors on 103 attempts, highlighted by a third set where they were flawless offensively, swinging .424 with 14 kills and no errors.

The Bobcats' offensive rhythm was orchestrated by Lacey Gutherie, who distributed 25 assists, and Claire Wheeler, who added 11 more. The duo kept Glenville's defense off balance by spreading the attack across multiple hitters

Defensively, Wesleyan stood tall at the net with 12 team blocks, led by Denison's four total (one solo, three assists) and Axe's three assists. Faith Grafton chipped in with nine digs and four service aces, providing steady play in the back row. As a unit, Wesleyan out-dug Glenville 47–40, holding the Pioneers to a .131 hitting percentage
