Clarion Shuts Out The Bobcats

Clarion 8, West Virginia Wesleyan 0
March 2, 2025
 — Clarion University delivered a dominant performance, defeating West Virginia Wesleyan 8-0 in a six-inning shutout. Behind a stellar outing from pitcher Emma Hipps, who tossed a complete game, Clarion capitalized on timely hits and WV Wesleyan's defensive errors to take the win.

Scoring Summary:

  • 2nd Inning: Clarion took the lead with two runs. A walk to A. Valencia brought in A. Smith, and a sac fly by J. Best scored E. Hipps.
Score: Clarion 2, WV Wesleyan 0

  • 6th Inning: Clarion broke the game wide open with six runs. D. Allen singled to score M. Serrano, followed by a sac fly from A. Smith to score D. Davison. E. Hipps reached on a shortstop error, bringing in D. Davison. J. Best's error-assisted single scored A. Valencia and E. Hipps. Finally, H. Rimmey singled to bring in J. Best.
Score: Clarion 8, WV Wesleyan 0

West Virginia Wesleyan couldn't generate enough offense to challenge Clarion. Despite four hits, including a double by Stoffel and a solid game from Gracey Arnold (1-for-2), the team stranded five runners and made critical fielding errors that contributed to Clarion's big inning.

    Pitching Notes:

  • Kendall Stoffel (WV Wesleyan) took the loss after pitching 1.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on one hit and walking four batters. Stoffel would lead the way for WV Wesleyan at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double.
  • Josi Fix came in as relief, allowing six more runs (two earned) and walking three batters in 4.1 innings.
