Softball Loses Close 2 Run Game To Southern New Hampshire

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) secured a hard-fought victory over West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon, with a final score of 5-3. The game featured a solid team effort from SNHU, including strong pitching and key offensive contributions.
 

Scoring Summary:

  • 1st Inning: SNHU took an early lead when M. Bruggeman flied out to right field, allowing J. Resetar to advance to third and eventually score on an error by the third baseman, putting SNHU up 1-0.
  • 3rd Inning: SNHU extended their lead as M. Bruggeman doubled to left center, bringing home M. Alto. Moments later, C. Donovan singled to center field, driving in two more runs with A. Lineman and C. Seay crossing the plate, making it 4-0.
  • 5th Inning: WVW fought back in the top of the fifth when A. Dizon doubled to right field, driving in two runs, and H. Dinklocker advanced to third. The score was now 4-2 in favor of SNHU.
  • 6th Inning: WVW continued their comeback when L. Hague singled to right field, scoring J. Hodge and pulling WVW to within one run, 4-3.
  • 6th Inning: SNHU answered back in the bottom of the sixth. M. Bruggeman's sacrifice fly to right field allowed G. Senerchia to score from second base, bringing SNHU's lead back to two runs, 5-3.
Offense 
  • A. Dizon (1-for-4, 2 RBIs) had a strong game at the plate, driving in both of WVW's runs in the fifth inning with a double.
  • L. Hague (1-for-3, 1 RBI) added an important RBI single in the sixth inning, keeping WVW in the game.

Pitching 

    • K. Stoffel (L, 1-2) took the loss after pitching 3.2 innings, giving up 4 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits with 5 walks and 2 strikeouts.
    • K. Brown pitched 2.1 innings of relief, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks.
