Beaver Falls, PA – West Virginia Wesleyan put on a commanding performance at Wright Field on Saturday afternoon, overpowering Geneva College 15-2 behind a stellar offensive display from
Nyah Elmer. The Bobcats' offensive engine was firing on all cylinders, while Geneva struggled to gain any traction throughout the contest.
From the opening whistle, Wesleyan showcased offensive prowess. Freshman attacker
Elmer scored two goals in the first quarter to give the Bobcats an early 3-0 advantage.
Emma Adcock added another just before the end of the period.
Elmer continued her scoring clinic in the second quarter, tallying four additional goals, including two on man-up situations. Her precision and control in one-on-one situations proved too much for Geneva's defense to handle.
Emma Adcock (2 goals, 1 assist) and
Raveena Navalgund (1 goal) also contributed to the offensive explosion, giving West Virginia Wesleyan a commanding 10-0 lead at halftime.
The Golden Tornadoes finally got on the scoreboard in the third quarter when
Julianna Easley capitalized on an unassisted goal at the 12:28 mark.
Amanda Gillette followed with another Geneva goal at 3:03, assisted by Easley, cutting the deficit to 10-2.
Elmer responded with her seventh goal of the game with just 21 seconds left in the third quarter, making it 11-2. In the final quarter,
Wiktoria Walska (2 goals, 2 assists) and
Ashlyn LaPlante joined the scoring action, sealing a dominant 15-2 victory for the Bobcats.
Elmer's performance was nothing short of spectacular, finishing with
8 goals on 17 shots and securing
6 draw controls. Her ability to find open lanes and finish with precision defined Wesleyan's offensive game plan.
While Wesleyan's offense stole the spotlight, their defense was equally impressive.
Goalkeeper Ella Gomez played a key role, recording
6 saves and anchoring a defense that limited Geneva to just
10 total shots. The Bobcats forced
35 Geneva turnovers, constantly pressuring the Golden Tornadoes into mistakes.
Geneva's
Lexi Lee had a busy afternoon in the cage, making
13 saves, but the onslaught of shots proved too overwhelming.
Wesleyan's defensive unit, led by
Navalgund (7 caused turnovers, 10 ground balls) and
Johanna Glaze, consistently disrupted Geneva's offensive rhythm. The Golden Tornadoes were held scoreless in three out of four quarters.
