BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan defeated the University of Charleston on Friday, using early offense and a complete game from Kendall Stoffel to secure the win.
Charleston scored first in the top of the first on a Tatum Hodson RBI double. Wesleyan answered in the bottom half when Gracey Arnold singled in Andie Dizon to tie it 1–1.
In the second, Dizon came through again with a two-run single, scoring Alyssa Rohr and Hallie Dinklocker to make it 3–1. The Bobcats added two more in the fourth—one on a Josi Fix RBI single and another on a Sydney Leadbetter base hit, extending the lead to 5–1.
Charleston chipped away with a run in the sixth on a Brooke Ogg single and another in the seventh on a Lexi Phares RBI hit, but Stoffel closed it out. She allowed 10 hits and struck out five over seven innings to earn the win.
Dizon led Wesleyan at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Fix added two hits and an RBI. For Charleston, Ariana Rubal went 3-for-4, and Hodson and Ogg each had run-scoring hits.
