BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — Wesleyan's football team (0-3) lost to Ohio Dominican University (1-0) Thursday night at Cebe Ross Field, falling 31-0.
Ohio Dominican scored on its first two drives of the game to build an early 14-0 lead. Running back Nathan Webster capped a five-play, 26-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run, and teammate Markquan Rucker added a 3-yard score just two minutes later following a three-play, 63-yard drive.
In the second quarter, Ohio Dominican converted a 40-yard field goal by Henry Vakerics and added a 15-yard touchdown pass from Drew Gallehue to Conner Campbell to stretch the halftime lead to 24-0.
Wesleyan's offense was unable to generate momentum. Despite a promising 56-yard drive late in the fourth quarter, the Bobcats came up empty after an interception in the red zone halted their best scoring opportunity of the night.
The Bobcats were limited to 105 yards of total offense, managing only seven first downs and converting just 2-of-11 third downs. Quarterbacks
Logan Landers and
Quinton Pulley combined for 32 passing yards, while Pulley provided the team's offensive highlight with a 29-yard scramble during a fourth-quarter drive.
Wesleyan will host West Virginia State University Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m.
