Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bobcats Grind Out Gritty Road Win Over D&E

The West Virginia Wesleyan College women's soccer team secured a hard-fought 2-1 road victory over Davis & Elkins on Wednesday evening. Fueled by timely goals from Ava Badallo and Paloma Zamora, as well as another solid effort from goalkeeper Maite Coutinho, the Bobcats overcame a physical matchup and a second-half equalizer to capture their first MEC win of the season

After withstanding early offensive pressure from the Senators, the Bobcats capitalized in the 29th minute when Badallo buried a shot to give Wesleyan a 1-0 advantage. The goal marked Badallo's first of the season and capped off a composed stretch of build-up play as Wesleyan began to assert itself in the attacking third.

Just moments into the second half, D&E drew level when Kristia Kouppi found the back of the net in the 49th minute. However, the Bobcats wasted no time in responding.

Less than a minute later, Zamora struck back with what would become the game-winning goal, finishing decisively in the 50th minute after a rebound sequence. It was Zamora's first goal of the 2025 campaign and a statement of resilience by the Wesleyan attack

Coutinho was once again a steadying force for Wesleyan, recording six saves on 15 shots faced—including three crucial stops in the final 10 minutes of regulation. The back line absorbed D&E's second-half surge, and the Bobcats closed the match without allowing another serious scoring threat.

The Bobcats (2-1-1, 1-1-0 MEC) return home to Culpepper Stadium for a weekend matchup against West Virginia State University. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
