FROSTBURG, Md. — West Virginia Wesleyan women's basketball closed strong to secure an 87–76 Mountain East Conference victory over Frostburg State at Bobcat Arena, Wednesday. The win improved Wesleyan to 9–4 overall and 7–3 in league play.
 
The Bobcats set the tone early, opening the game on an 11–0 run and never trailing. Wesleyan shot 58.8 percent in the first quarter and followed with an even better 66.7 percent effort in the second, building a 48–34 halftime advantage. Balanced scoring fueled the surge, as Wesleyan finished the night at 53.0 percent from the floor and 47.1 percent from three-point range.
 
Kilah Dandridge led all scorers with a season-high 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting, connecting on three triples and adding eight rebounds. Emma Witt was a steady force for 40 minutes, posting 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting with four rebounds and two assists. Sydney Baird filled the stat sheet with 17 points, five assists, and three steals, while Allie Daniels chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds in just 27 minutes. Ana Young rounded out the starters with eight points, three assists, and a pair of blocks.
 
Frostburg State made a push in the third quarter, trimming the margin to single digits, but Wesleyan responded with timely buckets and defensive stops. Baird and Young sparked a 7–0 stretch midway through the period to regain control, and Daniels' activity on the glass helped Wesleyan weather the run. The Bobcats carried a 65–55 lead into the fourth and put the game away at the free-throw line, going a perfect 6-for-6 in the final quarter.
 
Wesleyan held advantages in points off turnovers (18–9) and second-chance points (17–15), while also scoring 36 points in the paint. The Bobcats committed just six turnovers on the night and handed out 14 assists on 35 made field goals.
 
Frostburg State was led by Jenna Muha's 22 points and 13 rebounds. Julie Spinelli also contributed 13 points and four assists, while Ayla Hileman added eight points.
 
Wesleyan returns home to host Davis & Elkins College on Saturday, Jan. 24 in the Rockefeller Center. Tipoff is 2 p.m.
