Frostburg State Defeats Wesleyan, 105–83

FROSTBURG, Md. — Frostburg State University handed West Virginia Wesleyan a 105–83 setback Wednesday night at Bobcat Arena in Mountain East Conference play.
 
Wesleyan battled early and showed offensive efficiency throughout the night, shooting 47.8 percent from the floor and a perfect 13-of-13 at the free-throw line, but Frostburg State capitalized on transition opportunities and second-half shooting.
 
Isaiah Baker led Wesleyan with a team-high 21 points, adding five assists and eight rebounds in 32 minutes. Jerell Jean-Baptiste provided a spark off the bench with 15 points, knocking down three three-pointers, while Adrijus Janciauskas finished with 13 points and a team-best six assists. Curtis Litton chipped in 11 points, and Jaden Westfall added eight points and four rebounds.
 
Wesleyan stayed within striking distance early. Baker scored nine points in the opening half, while Jean-Baptiste and Janciauskas combined to give the Bobcats consistent perimeter and paint production. Frostburg State, however, closed the first half on a run to take a 44–31 advantage into the break.
 
The Bobcats opened the second half shooting over 51 percent and continued to attack the rim, finishing with 48 points in the paint and 17 fast-break points. Frostburg State countered by converting turnovers into points, extending the margin with a 61-point second half on 61.8 percent shooting after intermission.
 
Wesleyan finished the night with 30 rebounds and 19 assists, with 25 points coming from the bench.
 
Frostburg State was led by DJ Daniel who scored a game-high 26 points on an efficient 10-of-13 shooting while also dishing out 10 assists and grabbing nine rebounds for a near triple-double performance. Trey Simmons added 22 points, going 10-of-11 at the free-throw line while contributing four assists.
 
Wesleyan hosts Davis & Elkins College Saturday, Jan. 24 in the Rockefeller Center at 4 p.m.
