Bobcats Fall to Point Park in Pittsburgh

Pioneers score once in each half in 2-0 win

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Lady Bobcats fell 2-0 to Point Park on Wednesday night at F.N.B. Stadium.


    The Lady Bobcats (4-6-2, 4-5-1 MEC) fall to the Pioneers (8-3-1, 8-1-1 MEC) in tough fought Mountain East Conference match up.


    Point Park got on the board in the 19th minute when Maya Figueroa scored off an assist from Rebecca Pihlgren. Wesleyan kept the Pioneers to one goal through the rest of the first half, with goalkeeper Reyna Dalton making two saves.


    Pihlgren added her fourth goal of the season two minutes into the second half to make it 2-0. Wesleyan held Point Park scoreless the rest of the way, and Dalton made another save in the second half to finish with three saves in 90 minutes.


    The Lady Bobcats had four shots in the second half, doubling their first-half total. Mia Rodriguez had Wesleyan's only shot on goal down the middle, in the 81st minute, which Point Park's goalkeeper Nicole Kuchinski saved. Lillyan Toth also had two shots, and Kierra Hoiler and Isabella Mazza each had one.


    Point Park outshot Wesleyan 18-6 and held a 5-1 edge in shots on goal. The Pioneers also had a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks. Pihlgren led all players with six shots, two on goal. There were 205 fans in attendance.


    West Virginia Wesleyan returns home to host West Liberty on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m. at Culpepper Stadium.
