Bobcats Dominate Senators in Regular Season Finale. Tournament Bound as #2 Seed

ELKINS, W.Va. — West Virginia Wesleyan women's basketball closed its regular season with a complete wire-to-wire performance, overpowering Davis & Elkins 78–32 on Saturday afternoon inside the McDonnell Center. The victory secures the Bobcats' 18th win of the season and a 15–5 mark in Mountain East Conference play.

Wesleyan controlled every phase of the game, outrebounding the Senators 53–25, posting 36 points in the paint, and forcing 10 turnovers while allowing just four assists.

The MEC's leading scorer, Emma Witt, delivered 25 points and 12 rebounds on 9–for-13 shooting and a 7–of-8 mark at the line.

The opening minutes featured heavy defensive pressure from both teams, but once Witt settled in, the tone shifted. After Davis & Elkins opened with a three-pointer, Witt scored Wesleyan's first basket on a strong finish in the paint at 7:31. Minutes later, she converted a fast-break layup off an Allie Daniels assist, tying the game at 4–4.

From that point on, Witt sparked a 16–4 run—scoring inside at 5:43 and 3:29, then grabbing an offensive rebound to set up a Sydney Baird three at 5:05. In the final 30 seconds, the Bobcats buried back-to-back threes from Kilah Dandridge and Avery Childers to cap the quarter up 20–8.

In the second quarter, Wesleyan extended the lead quickly as Dandridge scored on a layup at 9:43, followed by a mid-range jumper from Witt less than 30 seconds later. After another Witt bucket at 8:29, she drew a foul on a fast-break chance and knocked down two free throws to make it 28–10.

The Bobcats' defense was relentless. The Senators went scoreless for nearly five minutes while Wesleyan forced turnovers and dominated the boards. An Ana Young three from the left wing at 4:10 stretched the lead to 19. Witt added two more free throws at 3:14 and another jumper at 2:17 before Childers beat the halftime buzzer with a layup to send WVWC into the break up 39–14.

In the third, though Davis & Elkins opened with two baskets from Kylie Morris, Wesleyan answered immediately. Daniels scored inside at 8:09, then Witt returned from a brief rest to score on a layup at 7:32. Another Daniels finish made it 47–20, and moments later Young drilled a three at 3:21 to push the lead to 52–26.

Baird added a layup at 1:35, and Daniels closed the period with two free throws, helping the Bobcats carry a 58–26 advantage into the fourth. WVWC scored 19 points in the frame on efficient interior play and second-chance opportunities.

Fourth Quarter: Bench Depth Seals the Finish
Witt opened the final period with two free throws at 9:08, officially closing the door on any comeback effort. Young and Dandridge added layups on consecutive possessions to push the lead to 38. With the game in hand, Wesleyan's reserves stepped in and executed well.

Valerie Veauthier splashed a three at 5:58, freshman Ayneigejah Ferguson-Dugas added another triple at 4:03, and Kadie Colebank scored four late points—including a layup at 1:11—to help Wesleyan reach its final total of 78 points. Kenley Kveton drilled a deep three with 46 seconds remaining for the final exclamation point.

Wesleyan limited Davis & Elkins to just six points in the fourth quarter and 32 for the game—one of the lowest totals allowed this season.
