Bobcats Take First Loss of Season After Weather Delays at Clarion

Clarion, Pa. – The West Virginia Wesleyan football team took their first lost of the season late Thursday night on the road to the Clarion Golden Eagles, 52-14.

The Bobcats came out swinging after what was the first of two weather delays with a 21-yard touchdown caught by Amari Colon-Brown from the arm of Mike Evans Jr. to take the lead at the end of the first quarter, 7-0. The Golden Eagles offense picked up in the second quarter, however, taking a 17-7 lead into halftime.

The Evans Jr. to Colon-Brown connection continued into the third with a big 89-yard play for a touchdown, but a 28-point third quarter for Clarion was too much for the Bobcats to overcome.

Evans Jr. would end the game with 250 yards in the air, with two touchdowns and one interception. Despite the loss, Colon-Brown had yet another big performance early in the season with 220 yards and two touchdowns on nine receptions. Running back Jeremiah King led the Bobcat attack on the ground with 82 yards.

On the defensive end, Kameron Reynolds carried momentum from his last game with 19 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and a pass break up. Two Bobcats came up with interceptions, Jalen Bogues and Eudean Dobson.

The Bobcats are back in action at home next Thursday, September 10th, as they finish up non-conference play when the Shippensburg Raiders come to town, another PSAC opponent. Streaming and Live Stats information will be available on the schedule page.
