Entering his second year on the Baseball Coaching Staff, McKinley Scott is responsible for the everyday operation of the West Virginia Wesleyan baseball pitching staff.
A Gastonia, N.C. native, Scott prepped at North Gaston High School. He finished his senior high school season with a 0.54 ERA, which ranks 22nd all-time for a single season in the state of North Carolina. A three time all conference player, Scott was named to the all-state team his senior season.
Scott began his collegiate career at Concord University. An injury led Scott to Guilford Technical Community College where he revamped his career. As a starter, Scott pitched over 60 innings and was a primary contributor that led Guilford Tech to a conference tournament appearance. After Guilford Tech, Scott landed at another Mountain East Conference foe, Davis & Elkins College. At D&E, Scott was tabbed as both a starter and a reliever. During the summers, Scott played in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League (Mooresville Spinners), the Beach Collegiate Baseball League (Palmetto Generals), and the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (Newark Pilots). At all three stops, Scott had unprecedented success, winning championships while in the SCBL and TBCL. While in Newark, Scott led the team in innings pitched.
Scott completed his undergraduate degree in Health and Physical Education in December 2021 from Davis & Elkins and currently resides in Buckhannon, W.Va.
