Davis Shanley enters his first season as Quarterbacks Coach for the Bobcats. He played for NCAA Division I Western Kentucky from 2017-2020 where he had more than 10 starts while throwing for more than 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns against programs such as Wisconsin, Louisville, and Arkansas. Shanley graduated from Western Kentucky in 2020 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sport Management.

Shanley then transferred to Tennessee Technological University (an FCS program) in 2021 and started another five games and participated in eight while playing against programs such as Tennessee, Samford, and Furman.
 
More recently, Shanley had a three-year stint at FCS Gardner-Webb University, serving as both Offensive and Defensive Graduate Assistant / Assistant Quarterbacks Coach. After starting in 2022 as a quality control for quarterbacks at Gardner-Webb, he helped coach the team to its first conference championship since 2003 and first ever playoff victory in the FCS playoffs against Eastern Kentucky. He coached the Bulldogs to back-to-back conference championships from 2022-2023, a first in Gardner-Webb program history.


Entering the 2023 season, Shanley became the Offensive Graduate Assistant / Assistant Quarterbacks Coach for the Bulldogs, then in 2024, Shanley moved to the defensive side of the ball as the Defensive Graduate Assistant, working with both linebackers and defensive line, where his team racked up a conference-leading 38 sacks.
