Tony Testa

Tony Testa returned to his alma mater in January of 2013. Testa is entering his first year as the head coach for the Wesleyan Bobcats, he has servedĀ as the Offensive Line Coach, Recruiting Coordinator and Run Game Coordinator. While at Wesleyan, his Offensive Lines have paved the way for WVWC career rushing record holder Michael Anderson. All-MEC Offensive Linemen Donnie Richards (2nd Team) and Jordan Barnes (HM) anchored a line that produced the MEC’s leading rusher in 2016 while giving up the fewest sacks in the league. Throughout his time at WVWC, Testa has mentored four All-MEC honorees, and produced single game highs of 428 yards rushing as a team and 310 yards rushing as an individual.

In addition to successes on the field, Testa guided an academic turnaround that improved the team GPA by .8. He has also helmed WVWC Football’s community service initiative, which accumulated over 2000 man hours of community service in its first two years. The Cats in the Community have been integral members of the Get Up Get Moving, Read Aloud, and Dropout Prevention programs in Upshur County Elementaries. The Appalachian Impact mentoring program has greatly benefited from participation by WVWC Football Players. They have worked with the Upshur Co. Parish House on food and clothing drives. The WVWC Football Team also partnered with World Vision to assist with disaster relief. Last summer, several players assisted flood victims Southern WV by participating in a furniture drive, and traveled to Clendenin this spring to rebuild a flood-damaged bridge. The Football Program also put on a Bone Marrow Donation Registry Drive in association with the Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation and Be The Match.

Prior to returning to Buckhannon, Testa worked as an offensive consultant and running backs coach at Baldwin Wallace University. While there, he was a member of the staff that turned the program around from 3-7 to 7-3 and 8-2. He also coached 1st Team All-OAC Running Back Tyler Lohr, who posted the highest individual season rushing total since 2004.Ā

Testa spent one season as the Offensive Line/Tight Ends Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator at The Apprentice School in 2009. While there, he guided All-ACFC performers Teo Ellis, Lamar Johnson, Jeff Leckrone and Michael Kinder (D3 Senior Football Classic Participant).Ā

Testa got his first coaching position at Marietta College (2007-08), where he served as a graduate assistant offensive line coach, including All-OAC Tackle Jason MacKay.

The Parkersburg, W.Va. native was a four-year letter winner at WVWC and earned second team All-WVIAC honors as a senior (2005). Testa was a part of both the 2002 and 2003 WVIAC Championship squads under Coach Bill Struble.

Testa is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. His areas for recruiting are West Virginia, Eastern Baltimore, and East Cleveland.
