Mallya joined the West Virginia Wesleyan tennis team as an assistant coach in the fall of 2021.
Mallya's tennis experience began when he received a full scholarship by the International Tennis Federation. While on scholarship, he competed in tennis tournaments in over 13 countries and earned his high school diploma.
After high school Mallya attended New Mexico Militarry Institute Junior College on a tennis scholarship. He played in the #2 position in singles and doubles and led the team to a regional tournament victory. Mallya completed his bachelor's degree at Salem University, where he majored in sports and management.
