Grid Cats Fall Short Against GSC

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Glenville State piled up 392 offensive yards while scoring 14 points off of turnovers and holding West Virginia Wesleyan to 54 yards on the ground in a 36-33 win on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Justin Watts put Glenville State on the board midway through the first quarter with a 31-yard field goal and the Pioneers used Dom Cizauskas' 33-yard interception return to build a quick 10-0 advantage over the Bobcats. 
 
The Pioneers built their lead to 26-14 by halftime and led by as many as 10 points (36-26) late in the game before Shaq Freeman-Park's one-yard touchdown run capped an eight-play, 65-yard scoring drive for the Bobcats.  West Virginia Wesleyan took over on downs on its own 13, but ran out of time to mount a comeback at the end of the fourth quarter.
 
Glenville State's Jaylen McNair completed 16-of-29 pass attempts for 214 yards and two touchdowns.  Javon Butler hauled in 11 receptions for 177 yards and a score.  Mario Pender ran for 78 yards on 22 carries with Thomas Boles adding 62 yards on 13 carries for the Pioneers. 
 
Matt Vinson threw for 234 yards on 19-of-30 passing with one score.  Kenny Lewis Jr. tallied 119 yards on 10 receptions with one score. 
 
Wil Mayes and Cizauskas each had nine tackles for Glenville State with Cizauskas notching an interception (33 yards) in the win.  Tre Lee and Sal Exposito both had seven stops for West Virginia Wesleyan.
