Box Score West Chester, Pa- West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Soccer took on third-seeded Kutztown in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday afternoon. The Lady Cats despite being out shot 19-4 found a way to move on in the tournament by winning a penalty kick shootout 4-1.
The goalkeeper duo was at it again as
Chelsea Hubner and
Ashlee Schumacher were responsible for the clean sheet in the regular and overtime periods. Hubner played the first half, and Schumacher played the second half and overtime periods. Hubner made an impressive three saves in penalty kicks.
Natalie Pireu,
Natalie Prater,
Carolyn Saulle, and
Orian Barr all converted their penalty kicks allowing the Lady Cats to advance to the next round of the tournament.
Wesleyan will play second seeded West Chester on Sunday at noon.
