Box Score 4 Wheeling, WV -- The Bobcats took to the road this past weekend to face off with MEC opponents Wheeling Jesuit and West Liberty. They would visit Wheeling on Saturday for a doubleheader, and finish the weekend at West Liberty for two games as well.
On Friday, Wheeling's Josh Bell picked up the win in Game 1, pitching six innings and giving up only one hit to go along with six strikeouts.
Riley Metz had the lone hit for WVWC, a homerun to left field. The Cardinals struck early, scoring both runs of their 2-1 victory in the first inning. Hayden Hizer singled down the first base line to score teammate Tristan Grimes. Adam Dennison would then double to center field to bring in Hizer. Michael Finch closed out the game for Wheeling.
In Game 2, the Bobcats got on the board first as
Dominic Castello scored on a wild pitch.
Wheeling answered back with a four-run second inning to go up 4-1. Zachary Blumbling scored on a Grimes single to tie the game at 1-1. Grimes and Dom Davis would score on an error in the field. Logan Schickler doubled down the right field line to score Brad Trescott.

Josh Jano brought home
Tanner McCallister to make the score 4-2.
Nick Luciano would get the Win (1-1) for the Cardinals, as Wesleyan's Griffen Roe took the Loss (1-2). Michael Finch picked up the save in this game as well.
On Sunday, West Liberty's Justin Retzer threw a one-hit shutout in his teams 9-0 victory over the bobcats. Retzer struck out nine over seven innings. The no-hitter was broken up in the top of the seventh inning, as Wesleyan's
Eric Forbrick doubled to right field.
In Game 2, WVWC defeated the Hilltoppers 9-7.
Wesleyan got on the board in the top of the first as Jano doubled to bring in
Alex Skinner.
In the second, West Liberty brought in three runs, two of them scored off errors by Wesleyan.
The Bobcats responded with a three-run third inning, highlighted by a
Jonathan Cintron double that brought in Jano.
Entering the sixth inning, West Lib held a 7-5 lead.
In the sixth,
Bryson Fluke reached on an error that scored Cintron and
Kyle Kania.
A tie game heading into the final inning, Kania gave WVWC the lead as his sacrifice fly brought in
Eric Forbrick. Cintron brought in
Nick Grotti on a single that added some insurance heading into the bottom of the seventh.
Chris Metrick picked up the win, pitching 2.2 innings, striking out two and allowing only one run on two hits.
After the weekend, Wesleyan sits at 5-15 overall and 4-4 in MEC play.
The Bobcats will host Urbana in doubleheader action this Friday March 30th with game one starting at 1 PM.
