Softball Sweeps Virginia-Wise

BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan Softball team won both games against Virginia-Wise on Monday, the first game concluded 7-1 and the second 2-1.

In the first game, the team started to heat up in the 3rd inning when Morgan Bruce singled to center field advancing Krista Waggoner to second; Lauryn King advanced to third and Sara Scoone scored. Brittani Bible flied out to the infield while King ran in for the second run. In the 5th inning, Megan Magsamen singled to right field while Aylin Gutierrez advanced to third bringing home Brianna Ross and Arianna Smoot. In the 6th inning, Gutierrez singled to right field, Bible advanced to third while Bruce and Waggoner crossed home plate. Kasey Robinson singled to center field advancing Kelly Bourne to second and Bible scored the final run.

In the second game, during the 1st inning, Waggoner singled to left field bringing home Madison Casto. Then in the 4th inning, Bible singled to center field, Gutierrez advanced to second and Smoot scored the second and final run of the game.

The Bobcats advance their overall record to 13-8 and 6-2 in the MEC. The team will return to their home field on Friday to face off against Urbana at 1pm and 3pm.
