BUCKHANNON- West Virginia Wesleyan Softball team had an impressive sweep against both Urbana and Notre Dame on Friday and Saturday. Both games against Urbana ended with a score of 10-1 while the games against Notre Dame ended with scores of 4-0 and 8-6.
During Friday's match ups against Urbana, in the 1
st inning,
Lauryn King singled to left field and brought in
Madison Casto scored.
Krista Waggoner doubled to center while King scored. In the 2
nd inning, Casto singled to left field,
Megan Magsamen advanced to third,
Brianna Ross and
Brittani Bible scored.
Sara Scoone singled to the shortstop, Casto advanced to third, and Magsamen scored. King doubled to center field bringing in
Arianna Smoot and Casto.Â
Morgan Bruce singled to center field and King scored. In the 3
rd inning, Magsamen stole third and scored. In the 4
th inning,
Kasey Robinson singled to right field while Bruce scored the final run of the game ending 10-1.
In the second game, starting off in the 3
rd inning, King grounded out to third base, Scoone advanced to third and Casto scored. Waggoner grounded out to the pitcher bringing home Scoone for the second run. In the 4
th inning, Casto doubled to left field, Magsamen advanced to third while Smoot and Ross crossed home plate. Scoone doubled to right field bringing in Casto and Magsamen for the sixth run. In the 5
th inning, Casto singled to center field, Robinson advanced to second while Bible and
Aylin Gutierrez scored. Then to bring it all home in the 6
th inning, Bruce homered to left field and Waggoner crossed home plate.
During Saturday's match ups against Notre Dame, in the 1
st inning, King homered and brought in Scoone for the first two runs. In the 2
nd inning, Bible homered for the third run. In the 5
th inning, Waggoner got out in a sacrifice run while King advanced to third and Casto scored the final run.
In the second game, starting off in the 3
rd inning, Scoone flied out to center field, Casto advanced to third and Magsamen scored. King singled to the shortstop bringing in Casto for the second run. Gutierrez doubled to left field while Waggoner and King crossed home plate. Bible homered advancing Gutierrez to score the sixth run. In the 4
th inning, Scoone singled and Casto scored on an error by the shortstop. In the 6
th inning, King flied out to righ field, Casto advanced to third and Magsamen scored finalizing the game 8-6.
The Bobcats increase their overall record to 17-8 and 10-2 in the MEC. The team will return to the field at Glenville on Wednesday at 4pm and 6pm.
