Softball Goes 1-1 in Tuesday's Match Ups

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan Softball team went 1-1 during their two games on Tuesday against Wilmington and Georgian Court. The team was shut out by Wilmington with a score of 8-0 but were determined to come back in the second game and shut out Georgian Court, 5-0.
 
During their shut out against Georgian Court, in the bottom of the 1st inning, Krista Waggoner homered to right field bringing in three runs; Lauryn King and Sara Scoone both scored increasing the lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Sara Scoone singled through the left side, advanced to second on the throw while Makayka McElwayne advanced to third bringing in Arianna Smoot to score increasing the lead to now 4-0. For the final run of the game in the bottom of the 5th inning, Krista Waggoner grounded out to the pitcher with a sacrifice bunt to advance Lauryn King to third who then brought it home on a throwing error to 1st base; ending the game with a shut out, 5-0. Pitcher, Hannah Vet threw 94 pitches with 67 of them being strikes.
 
The Bobcats increase their record to 4-4 after Tuesday's competitions. The team will return to the field on Wednesday for their final match-ups in Clermont, Florida against Upper Iowa and Findlay with start times at 11am and 2pm.
