Buckhannon, WV -- West Virginia Wesleyan won five of the six singles to pull away from Fairmont State for 7-2 victory Thursday afternoon.
The Bobcats, ranked #2 in the latest NCAA regional ranking, also won two of the three doubles matches in the contest against the Fighting Falcons, who are currently ranked 4th regionally.

Lukas Laipold had a strong outing for Wesleyan, first teaming with
Ferran Berga for an 8-2 win at #3 doubles to start the scoring for the 'Cats He then closed out the match with a thrilling, 11-9 super-tiebreak win over FSU's Lucas Alves at the #1 singles spot.
The win keeps the Bobcats unbeaten at 6-0 and as they take over first place in the Mountain East conference tennis standings. Fairmont State falls to 5-1 in MEC play, and 11-8 overall.
"This was one of those days when getting an early lead was important," said Head Coach
Marc Walters, who got his 600th career match with the win over his alma mater.
"We got the quick points in doubles, which set the tone, and then five of the first sets in singles to keep the ball rolling. It was a very focused performance right down the line."
Wesleyan can clinch the regular season title outright Friday when travel to West Liberty University for a 3:30 pm bout. A win will give the 'Cats the top seed for the conference tournament, to be held in Huntington on April 21-22 at Marshall University's Fox Tennis Center.
