Softball Sweeps Salem and Splits with West Liberty

BUCKHANNON- West Virginia Wesleyan Softball team beat Salem International 8-0 and 10-7 and beat West Liberty 1-0 then lost 5-7.
 
In the games against Salem, Madison Casto and Megan Magsamen scored two runs, Lauryn King, Krista Waggoner, and Makayla McElwayne each scored one run. In the 3rd inning, Gutierrez hit a single home run. In the second game, during the 3rd inning, King homered (grand slam) bringing in Sara Scoone, Magsamen and McElwayne to score. Morgan Bruce also hit a home run, bringing home Gutierrez and Waggoner.
 
In the games against West Liberty, during the 4th inning, Waggoner singled through the left side and Casto scored. In the second game, in the 1st inning, Waggoner singled and advanced to second on an error by the left fielder while King scored. Gutierrez homered to left center and Waggoner scored. In the 5th inning, King doubled down the left field line, advanced to third on the throw and Scoone scored. Waggoner got out at first on a sacrifice bunt and King scored.
 
The Bobcats increase their overall record to 25-10 and 16-4 in the MEC. They will return to the field on Saturday at Wheeling Jesuit at 12pm and 2pm
