Shepherdstown- West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Soccer traveled to the Eastern Panhandle on Wednesday afternoon to take on the Shepherd University Rams. The Lady Bobcats would dominate the road matchup with 19 shots to the Rams 7 in a 2-0 win. The victory would be six in a row for Wesleyan.
It would not take long for the Lady Bobcats to get on the scoreboard as
Haelly Ramirez would assist
Natalie Prater just under a minute into the contest. Wesleyan managed many shots on goal in the first half but would end up taking the 1-0 lead into halftime. Other action during the half happened in the 9th minute when
Haelly Ramirez received a yellow card.Â
Wesleyan would look to extend their lead in the 57th minute when
Natalie Prater would attempt a penalty kick. Shepherd keeper Megan Byers would save the shot by Prater. Yellow cards were prevalent in the match as
Carolyn Saulle received one in the 58th minute.
Wesleyan would extend the lead in 74th minute when Madison Lapole scored on an assist from
Isabella Salas. The game would remain physical in the second half as both Alex O'brien and
Kayla Fay received yellow cards. The yellow cards were issued in the 81st and 84th minutes respectively. Shepherd would receive two yellow cards, and a team red card in the match.Â
Wesleyan will be back at home on Sunday playing against Wheeling Jesuit. The game is set to start at 3 PM.Â
