Urbana, OH --Â It was a new day but a similar story for West Virginia Wesleyan Volleyball on Saturday. After winning the first set against Notre Dame College on Friday, the Lady Bobcats lost momentum, and dropped the next three. The same progression happened again on Saturday. Wesleyan was mentally and physically tough in the first set, they won it besides having to play an extra eight points, for a finish of 30-28. They couldn't hold the advantage over the final three sets, losing them by scores of 25-17, 25-16, and 25-17, respectively.
Another tough loss for the Lady Bobcats, they fall to 5-15 on the season, and 2-7 in the Mountain East Conference.Â
Urbana had difficulty in their non-conference schedule early on in 2019, as they hold an 11-10 overall record, but have put together a nice season in the MEC at 7-2.Â
Freshman
Payton Hefner was again a bright spot for Wesleyan, her 27 assists were her fourth most in a match this season. She also had seven digs, and her and fellow Freshman
Abigail Anderson, eight digs, form a good defensive pairing. Freshman
Jenny Lundy swung well on Saturday, she notched 13 kills on a .310 hitting percentage. That was the third time that Lundy had 13 kills in a match, and Saturday's was her most efficient. Senior
Madison Cooper put in 11 kills, and Junior
Lauryn Antolock had 4 blocks.Â
For Urbana, Anna Davis was tremendous. She tossed around 50 assists on Saturday night, and a majority of them were to teammates Lexi Reinert and Hannah Delor, who had 18 and 14, respectively.Â
Wesleyan has a non-league matchup against Alderson Broaddus in Philipi on Tuesday. They need a victory to get the season back on track.
Urbana will wait until Friday to travel to the capital city and take on Charleston.
