Volleyball Splits on the Weekend

Glenville/Athens, WV-- The West Virginia Wesleyan College Women's Volleyball team would take on Glenville State College on Friday and Concord University on Sunday. The Bobcats come into Friday's match with a 2-8 overall record opposed to GSC coming in with a 3-9 record. 

GSC vs WVWC:

The first set would go to the wire but the Lady Bobcats would take it 25-21. The Lady Cats would distribute the ball well as Emily Doyle, Jayme Demoss, and Madison Cooper would all collect kills in the final couple points. 

The second set the Pioneers would jump out to an early lead and go on to take the set 25-23. 

The final two sets would be all WVWC as each match would come down to 3-5 points but the Lady Cats would hold on. 

The Lady Cats go on to beat Glenville State College 3-1. (25-21, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20).

Alexie Arnold would have 13 kills during the match, Emily Doyle & Jayme Demoss would each have 9. Abigail Anderson would lead the Lady Cats in aces with 4 total. Lauryn Antolock would have 11 blocks, Payton Hefner would have 28 assists and Emily Doyle would collect 17 digs on the night. 

Concord vs WVWC: 

The West Virginia Wesleyan College Women's Volleyball team would come into the match with a 4-9 overall record opposed to Concord with a 3-9 overall record.

The first two sets would belong to the Mountain Lions as the Lady Bobcats would fall just short each set (25-20, 25-21). 

The Lady Cats would take set three (25-23), Jenny Lundy would solidify the set, as she would have the Lady Cats last two points with 2 kills. 

In set 4, the Lady Bobcats would take the lead and jump out to a 13-6 lead but could not hold on as the Lady Bobcats would lose the last set 25-23. 

Alexie Arnold (14), Emily Doyle(10) and Jenny Lundy(9) would be the top three kill leaders of the match for the Lady Cats. Payton Hefner would have 28 assists and Lyndsey Smith would lead the team in digs with 13. 

The Lady Bobcats will be back in action this Tuesday against Davis & Elkins College for a 7:00pm home conference match. Come out and support your Lady Bobcats!
