Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Strong Performance from Lundy Not Enough Against D&E

Senators Take All Three Sets

Elkins, WV -- West Virginia Wesleyan Volleyball was looking to hault their nine-match skid on Tuesday when they made the short trip down to Elkins. Unlucky for the Lady Bobcats, they ran into a strong Davis & Elkins team that currently holds fourth place in the Mountain East Conference. The Senators won the match in straight sets, 25-22, 25-18, 25-20.

The bright spot for the Lady Bobcats on Tuesday, and over the course of the entire season, was Freshman OH Jenny Lundy. She accomplished something rarely ever seen, she led the team in kills and digs. On the hitting side, she had a game-high seventeen kills, which matches her career-high that she has collected twice before this season. This is also her third match out of the past four in which she had double-digit digs. It is impressive that a freshman can be impactful in two areas of the game that are normally not accumulated by the same player. Her production has spiked since the Ohio trip two weeks ago, over the last seven matches she has 93 kills.

For Davis & Elkins, Raleighanne Weaver had eight kills on a .538 hitting percentage, and Sarah Warren had 27 assists. The Senators are now 10-4 in the MEC, and 17-8 overall. Wesleyan is 2-12 in the MEC, and 5-21 overall.

Both teams are headed to the state capital on Friday, as Wesleyan plays at West Virginia State, and Davis & Elkins plays at Charleston.
