Lundy Shines in Loss at West Virginia State

Yellow Jackets Win in Four Sets

Institute, WV -- West Virginia Wesleyan Volleyball began their end-of-season road trip on Friday night at West Virginia State. The Yellow Jackets did not make it a pleasant start for Wesleyan, winning the match in four sets by scores of 25-11, 18-25, 25-18, and 25-12. WVSU's Jenna Dufresne was hard to stop in this one, she ranks fifth in the Mountain East Conference in kills, and she put down twenty against the Lady Bobcats.

Freshman Jenny Lundy was great again for Wesleyan, setting career-high marks in both kills and digs with eighteen of each in this match. That combo is rare to see in collegiate volleyball, as she is finishing the offense while also acting as the initial line of defense. Fellow Freshman Joelle Lalla and Peyton Hefner both had strong games as well. Lalla totaled ten kills on a .348 hitting percentage, and Hefner racked up 26 assists.

The aforementioned Dufresne's twenty kills were made more impressive by her .390 hitting percentage. Brianna Brandt also collected an impressive 42 assists. The Yellow Jackets move to 20-12 overall and 12-3 in the MEC, which is good for second place. The difficult season continues for Wesleyan, as they fall to 5-22, and 2-13 in the MEC.

WVSU will end their regular season against Davis & Elkins on Saturday, and will look forward to the MEC Tournament. Wesleyan's season will end on Saturday when they make the short trip up from Institute to Charleston for a 3:00 PM match with the Golden Eagles.
