Surprise, AZ -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association fall rankings have been released, and five Men's players from West Virginia Wesleyan have made the list in singles and doubles.Â
Senior
Lukas Laipold, 14th, and Freshman
Taylor Papworth,18th, made the cut in singles for the Bobcats. Juniors
Carlos Dodero and
Harry Simaioforidis, and Seniors
Thomas McIntosh and Laipold were ranked 5th and 10th, respectively, in the doubles category for the Atlantic Region.Â
"It is always nice to get players recognized individually for their hard work and results," said Head Coach
Marc Walters. "This year we had quite a few upsets at the major tournaments allowing more players to get into the mix and change things up. Lukas and Taylor especially had nice fall seasons in our trips to Tennessee and the ITA, so it's no surprise they showed up in those rankings."Â
The Bobcats will open their season with a trip to Charleston on February 6-7 for the UC Invitational, and then go on to play twice at nationally ranked Tusculum College (TN) on Sunday February 8th in their first duals of the spring. The 'Cats ended last year ranked #50 in the ITA team poll.
