Storylines

After starting off the season 3-2, the Lady Bobcats have dropped three games in a row. Due to the strength of Forwards Nicole Gilyard and Cierra Tolbert, the Lady Bobcats like to slow the game down to a half-court pace. Over the last three games, their opponents have picked up the tempo and have controlled the game with quick shot-making ability. There are a lot of teams in the Mountain East theat like to get up and down the floor, so either the Bobcats have to pick up the pace, or control their half-court offense more effectively. Tolbert is looking like a building block for Coach Bullett, as she has the size and strength inside to impact the game. Scoring help around Gilyard is needed for the Lady Bobcats to play with an Urbana team averaging twenty more points per game.

Coming off an impressive and historic win at West Liberty last Wednesday, the Bobcats failed to capitalize on any momentum with a home loss to Wheeling on Saturday. Inconsistency has been the story of the season so far, up and down the schedule and the stat sheet. This is as important as a December game can be for the Bobcats. Due to the parity early on in the Mountain East Conference, a win over Urbana would launch the Bobcats into the top half of the standings. However, a loss would drag them into the bottom third. In such a strong league, getting to the Holiday break with a winning record in conference is a great start to the season, regardless of overall record. Urbana really struggles to put up points, if the Bobcats can get the offense going early, it will make Coach Patella's job much easier managing the rest the game. The team must be prepared for this week, as they have an opportunity in front of them to take advantage of the two bottom teams in the league, also traveling to 0-4 Notre Dame on Saturday.
