Recap
Two teams in interesting situations entered Saturday's game in Buckhannon. West Virginia Wesleyan was coming off one of the most historic wins in program history on Wednesday, and Wheeling was off to a surprising start to many under new Head Coach Will Ryan. The Bobcats were not able to transfer over their shooting performance from Wednesday, and the Cardinals lived up their record coming into this one. Wheeling jumped out of the gates hot, grabbing a double-digit lead six minutes before the break. They even shot better in the second half, making fifteen of their twenty shots over the final twenty minutes. After the Bobcats got behind by over twenty, they put together an exciting scoring spurt due to a full-court press which caused some Cardinal turnovers. However, the visitors were able to hold the lead throughout the rest of the game with their shot-making ability. Will Ryan has the Cardinals playing an exciting brand of basketball, and they will be making some unexpected noise in the Mountain East Conference this season.
