PITTSBURGH, PA -- The West Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team dropped their spring season opener to #1 ranked Indiana U. of PA by a final score of 5-2 here Sunday evening at the Alpha Sports and Fitness Club.
Wesleyan dropped both doubles matches that were contested, and fell at the top four singles spots. The Lady Bobcats managed to play deep into their matches in several of their matches despite being the first match play of the year.Â
Freshmen Rebecca Osborne (#5) and Maddie Chen (#6) claimed wins for the 'Cats to finish the scoring, with Osborne taking a straight set 6-4, 6-0 match over IUP's Flavia Flandoll. Chen received a default in both her singles and doubles.
The Lady Cats drop to 3-1 with the loss after a perfect fall record. The team returns to the courts for a dual with Lake Superior State (MI) on Feb 28th in Buckhannon.Â
