Game 1:
Myrtle Beach, SC -- The West Virginia Wesleyan baseball team started off their season with a weekend series in Myrtle Beach, SC against the University of Pitt-Johnstown.
On the mound for game 1 for the Bobcats would be senior pitcher
Jake Bishop, looking to receive his first W of the 2019 season.
The Mountain Cats came out of the gates strong in the top of the first inning as they put up 3 runs on 2 hits opposed to the Bobcats 1 run on a triple from
Ryan Kiser scoring
Greg Smith. The next two innings the Mountain Cats would tack on 8 more runs as the Bobcats would be in need for a big inning which came for them in the 5
th inning.
The Bobcats would put up 5 runs on 5 hits, as
Travis Renner would hit a 3-run Home Run to left center field,
Eric Forbrick doubling to left center and
Domonic Castello,
Greg Smith and
Johnathan Cintron adding singles to the mix, to give some momentum and hope for the Bobcats in this offensive battle.
As the Bobcats would seem to be battling back into the game, in the 6
th inning the Mountain Cats would build their lead as they put up 7 runs on 5 hits. However, the Bobcats would try to rally back as they would put up 2 runs in the bottom half of the 6
th due to
Johnathan Cintron's single and then
Nick Grotti hitting a long home run to left center.
The Mountain's Cats would end up having the edge over the Bobcats in the first game of the double header on Friday afternoon as the score would end up 20-12.

Game 2:
Myrtle Beach, SC – The West Virginia Wesleyan baseball team is looking to bounce back after they fell to the University of Pitt-Johnstown in the first game of the double header.
On the mound for the Bobcats would be junior pitcher
Griffin Roe, looking to record his first W of the season.
From the start of the game, everyone in the stadium new this was going to be a pitching duel as they two starters would continue to put up zero's across the scoreboard. The Mountain Cats would be the team to draw first blood in the bottom of the third inning scoring just 1 run.
The next inning would be a chance for the Bobcats to get on the board as
Alex Skinner would lead off the inning with a bunt single and then advancing to second base on a wild pitch. However, the Bobcats would fall short to drive in the run.
The momentum of the game would continue to go back and forth
Griffin Roe would continue to rack up strikeouts (7), until he exited the game after 4 1/3 innings. Sophomore
Jake Hakey would come into the game for the Bobcats and would compete and not let up a run.
The Bobcats offense would need to get something started as the top of the 6
th inning they had a two out rally started by
Alex Skinner working the count to get on with a walk.
Greg Smith would come in to pitch-hit for the Bobcats as he would single to right field, but the rally would end as
Alex Skinner would get thrown out trying to stretch it from first to third.
The Bobcats would fall short the second game 1-0 against the Mountain Cats ending today with two losses.
