Buckhannon, WV – Tuesday afternoon, Wesleyan took on Alderson Broaddus in a doubleheader matchup. The Lady Bobcats were able to to improve their overall record to 8-10 after they won both games of the doubleheader.
Game 1
Wesleyan struck first in the first inning when
Lauryn King hit a two run homer to take the lead, 2-0. The Battlers put up one run in top of the fifth to cut the lead to 2-1. The Lady Bobcats countered that with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth when
Kiley Turner hit a three run homer to make it 5-1. Alderson Broaddus began to battle back and scored two more runs in the top of the sixth to make it 5-3. Wesleyan looked to add some insurance runs in the last few innings by scoring one run in each of the sixth and the seventh inning. The Lady Bobcats would hold off the Battlers and win the first game 7-3.
Hannah Hudson picked up the win in the circle for Wesleyan while
Destiny Alvarado went 3-4 and had one RBI, and
Lauren Niglio went 3-3 and had two stolen bases.
Game 2
Alderson Broaddus would jump onto the scoreboard first in the top of the third inning when they put up two runs. Wesleyan knotted the game up at two a piece in the bottom of the third when
Destiny Alvarado hit a two run homer. The Lady Bobcats looked to pull ahead in the bottom of the sixth when they scored two runs to take the lead, 4-2. Wesleyan would hold off Alderson Broaddus's last inning attack and take the second game 4-2.
Haylee Shires picked up her third win of the season.
The Lady Bobcats will take on Concord next on March 23
rd at Concord in a doubleheader slated for 1 and 3 PM.
