West Liberty , WV -- West Virginia Wesleyan men opened their Mountain East title defense with a 7-0 win over West Liberty University here Wednesday afternoon.
The Bobcats, 5-5 overall and 1-0 MEC, won their second road match in a many days by claiming the doubles point and sweeping through the singles.Â
The 'Cats dropped only one set in singles on the day, but the doubles was a different story. After the Bobcats' HArry Simaioforidis and
Maycon Dias served out a 6-4 win at #1, The Hilltoppers stormed back from 2-5 to win the #3 match in a tie-breaker to even the point. The Bobcats needed a comeback, tie-breaker win of their own at #2 doubles from
Lukas Laipold and
Christos Kyrillou to seal the point and give them the early lead.
Wesleyan will now travel to UVA Wise Saturday for their next match, also a conference foe. Match time is 330pm in Wise at the college facility.
