Bobcats Fall to Minnesota State Mankato

Winter Haven, FL-- The West Virginia Wesleyan College Baseball team comes into today's match up with a 5-7 overall record opposed to Minnesota State Mankato coming in with a 7-2 record.

On the mound for the Bobcats would be Senior pitcher Jake Bishop as he looks to earn a win for his team.

The Mavericks would come out strong in the 3rd inning as they pick up 5 runs on 5 hits including a long home run from the designated hitter as the Bobcats would need to find away to slow this powerful hitting team down.

In the top of the 5th inning the Mavericks would tack on one more run on two errors from the Bobcats. In the bottom of the 5th inning the Bobcats would answer with one run as Tanner McCallister and Greg Smith would both single and Jonathan Cintron would walk loading the bases. A failed pick off attempt for the Mavericks would end up getting away from the first baseman and McCallister would score (6-1).

The Bobcats would make a lot of defensive switches and they would seem to answer right away. In the bottom of the 6th inning Sam Ross would pick up an RBI single, Bryson Fluke would pick up a single and Nick Grotti would also pick up an RBI single. This would bring the score to 6-4 as the Bobcats fight to get back in the game.

Unfortunately, the Mavericks would pile on the runs from there as they would go on to win the 9 inning game, 11-4.

Greg Smith was 2 for 3 and was the only player would had a multi-hit day for the Bobcats. The Bobcats will be back in action tomorrow as they take on the University of Mary for a doubleheader that begins at 3:45 PM.
