Winter Haven, FL-- The West Virginia Wesleyan College Baseball team took on the University of Mary for two games starting at 3:45 PM and 6:30 PM. The Bobcats come into the game with a 5-8 record while Mary comes with a 2-5 record.
Game 1:
On the mound for the Bobcats would be Junior pitcher
Griffin Roe from Stewart, Florida looking to pick up a win for his team.
The Marauders would come out swinging in the first inning as they put up two runs on four hits. However, the Bobcats would answer as
Greg Smith second pitch of the bottom of the first as he ropes one over the left field fence making it a one run ball game 2-1.
It wouldn't be until the bottom of the 3rd until the Bobcats would score again.
Jonathan Cintron would single leading off the inning as
Eric Forbrick would eventually hit Cintron in tying the game up 2-2.
Ryan Kiser would reach first moving Forbrick to second base.
Alex Skinner would then single which would load the bases for
Travis Renner. Renner would hit a long fly ball to center field which would bring in
Eric Forbrick to score making it 3-2. The Bobcats would fail to capitalize leaving two runners on base.
Mary would answer in the top of the 4th inning scoring two runs on two hits. The Bobcats would answer again as
Tanner McCallister would walk and
Greg Smith and
Jonathan Cintron would both single loading the bases for
Eric Forbrick. Forbrick would produce a run has he would hit a sacrifice fly to center field. The Bobcats would fail to score more than one leaving the bases loaded. The score would remain 4-4.
In the bottom of the 6th inning the Bobcats would end up scoring 5 runs on 3 hits. The Marauders would be searching for a pitcher would could throw strikes and get outs but the Bobcats were on a rally as they would have the momentum after the 6th inning.
The Marauders would pick up 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning but it wouldn't be enough to beat the Bobcats as they go on to win 9-6.
Eric Forbrick was 3 for 3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI's,
Alex Skinner was 3 for 4 with 1 run and 1 RBI,
Greg Smith was 2 for 4, HR, 2 runs and 1 RBI.
Dominic Castello would come in of relief and pick up the win.
The Bobcats played game 2 at 6:30 PM against the University of Mary.
Game 2:
On the mound for game 2 would be
Michael Maiolo Freshman pitcher out of Beckley, WV as he looks to pick up his second win.
Throughout the first 4 innings their would only be 2 hits from the Bobcats and Maiolo would keep the Marauders hitless.
It wouldn't be until the 5th inning when the Marauders would have two runners in scoring position. Maiolo would give up his first hit off the game which would score the two runners making it 2-0.
The Bobcats would have to put some runs together as the game was winding down. The Bobcats would answer in the top of the 6th inning as their would be 4 free bases in a row with 1 out.
Eric Forbrick would come to the plate with bases loaded and 2 outs and he reaches on an error by the shortstop which would give them the lead 3-2.
Ryan Kiser would then Triple to deep right center field as he would put the Bobcats up by a score of 5-2.
Dominic Castello would come up next as he would double down the right field line scoring
Ryan Kiser making it a 6-2 ball game as they Bobcats would have all of the momentum.
The Maruaders would pick up one run in the bottom half of the 6th inning, the Bobcats would answer with one run as well in the top of the 7th inning as they would have a comfortable 7-3 lead. The Bobcats would shut down the Marauders as they would go on to win 7-3.

Tanner McCallister would all pick up one hit for the Bobcats in game 2.
The Bobcats will be back in action against the University of Minnesota Crookston at 9:15 AM tomorrow.
