Bobcats Fall to Minnesota Crookston in 11 Innings

Winter Haven, FL-- The West Virginia Wesleyan College Baseball team comes into the game with a 7-8 overall record while the University of Minnesota Crookston comes in with a 6-6 overall record.

On the mound for the Bobcats would be Senior pitcher Jake Bishop as he looks to pick up his second win of the year. 

The Bobcats would start of the game by Greg Smith walking and stealing second base on the first pitch. Jonathan Cintron would move him over to second base and Eric Forbrick would single over the second baseman's head to give the Bobcats the lead 1-0. It wouldn't take long as the Golden Eagles would answer tying the game up 1-1 going into the top of the 2nd. 

The Bobcats would be next to tack on a couple more runs as Antonio Vega would double down the left field line bring in Forbrick to score. Alex Skinner would then single to left field bringing in Vega to make the game 3-1. 

The Golden Eagles would not panic as they would put up 4 runs on 5 hits in the bottom of the 4th as they are answering immediately whenever the Bobcats score runs. 

The Golden Eagles would tack on one more run in the bottom of the 7th inning making it a 6-3 ball game going into the top of the 8th where the Bobcats would answer. With two outs Nick Grotti would single up the middle moving Antonio Vega over to second base bringing Tanner McCallister to the plate. McCallister would then single bringing in Vega from second and Grotti moved up to second base. Greg Smith and Jonathan Cintron would both single tying this game at 6 a piece as they would head to the bottom half of the inning. 

This game would be quiet the next few inning as this game would be heading into extra innings. The Golden Eagles would have the advantage as being the home team and they would execute as well. The Golden Eagles would start a two out rally as they would hit a double and reaching to third base on a wild pitch. The Golden Eagles would walk it off on a single to left field ending the ball game in 11 innings with a score of 7-6. 

The Bobcats will be back in action Friday, March 16th as they start conference play at Shepherd University starting at 1:00 PM.
