Baseball Drops Non-Conference Game to Salem

Salem, WV-- The West Virginia Wesleyan College Baseball team would take on Salem University in a weekday match-up for a single 9 inning game. Salem comes into the contest with a 22-17 record as the Bobcats come in with a 14-19 overall record.

On the mound to start the game for the Bobcats would be Senior pitcher Jake Bishop out of Beckley, WV.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Tigers would be there first to score as they put up 2 hits and get 1 run to come across.

The Bobcats would answer with a run themselves in the top of the second inning. Antonio Vega would start off the inning with a single up the middle, Dominic Castello would move Vega to 2nd base and Travis Renner would single through the left side that would bring in Vega to make it a 1-1 ball game.

Salem would tack on another run in the bottom half of the second inning on just 1 hit but a Bobcat error would make it a 2-1 game.

In the top of the 5th inning the Bobcats would tie it up, Jonathan Cintron would start it off with a 1 out single. Cintron would come around to score on Tanner McCallister's 1 out double to left center field.

The Bobcats would get into some trouble as they would walk the bases loaded and then let up a bases clearing double to make it a 5-2 game. From there on out it would be all the Tigers, as they would put up 4 more runs to make it a 9-2 game at the end of the 9th inning.

The Bobcats will be back in action this weekend at Concord University for a conference divisional match-up for 4 games as they look to get back on track.
