Durham, NC & Philippi, WV- West Virginia Wesleyan Track & Field had a eventful Easter weekend having athletes travel to both Duke University and Alderson Broaddus University.
At the AB Battler Invitational, Wesleyan had many event winners:
Ryan Hebb (5k),
Ian Frailey (1500),
Frankie Thomas (HJ),
Brendan Schwendeman (TJ),
Natalie Wiethe (400),
Emilee Spangler (800),
Lauren Crimm (Hammer), Aiyanna Kachmarek (Shot & Disc),
Trisanya Mitchell (TJ), and Kennedy Kuhns (Javelin).
At the Duke Invitational, many Wesleyan athletes left with personal bests and top finishes among the nations elite. On the men's side,
Devin Taylor finished 35th in the 200 with a personal best time of 22.29. Scott Soucier finished 50th in the 400 meter dash, and teamed up with Taylor,
Ridge Dalrymple, and
Austin Gresser for the 4x400 meter relay which ran a 3:25.13, a season best time for the Bobcats.
On the women's side,
Sydney Pineault finished 7th in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase. In the process, Pineault was able to set the school record with a time of 10:37.98 which sits her 8th in the country currently.
Caylee Painter set a personal best in the women's 400, and a season best in the women's 200. Tori Carr also set a personal best in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:08.
Lauren Leaman had an excellent performance in the high jump taking second place in the open section with a jump of 1.64 meters. Leaman set a personal best, and had some great attempts at 1.68 which is an NCAA DII provisional mark.
Wesleyan Track & Field will take a small group to WVU next weekend for their last regular season competition. The Mountain East Conference Championships will be May 5th to 7th at Glenville State College.
