BRIDGEPORT, W.Va.. -- Concord's Corey Carvelli has been named Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, while West Virginia Wesleyan's Sydney Pineualt was selected as the Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
Carvelli, a junior from Clarksburg, W.Va., was a three-time winner last weekend at the Concord University Invitational. He won the long jump with a mark of 6.21 meters, and then followed that up with wins and personal best times in both the 200 and 400 meter runs.
Pineault, a senior from Morgantown, W.Va., won the 5,000 meters at the Bradi Bowen Invitational over the weekend at Glenville State breaking the school record by 20 seconds in the process. She finished with a time of 17:25, which is good for the best time in the MEC so far this season. She also owns the top time this spring in the steeplechase and the 1500.
