Recap
Fastbreaks and dunks, the most exciting plays in basketball. The fans at the Rockefeller Center were treated to many of these on Saturday in a game between West Virginia Wesleyan Men's Basketball and West Virginia State. Both teams are full of athletes, so the action got going quickly as expected. Coach
Nick Patella decided to roll with his guys on Saturday, as all five starters played over 30 minutes against the Yellow Jackets. As was the gameplan, Forwards
Ross Young and
Dusan Vicentic dominated the game inside both scoring and rebounding. In a stat rarely ever seen,
Ross Young collected nine rebounds on Saturday, and all were offensive. Additionally, Young put down a dunk on a WVSU defender that is the highlight play of the season so far, and will be featured at @WVWCBobcats on Twitter. The score traded hands many times, and the Yellow Jackets stayed in it by forcing turnovers and knocking down clutch shots. The final clutch shot came from Michal Sears, who drained the game winning jumper off the dribble with 24 seconds to play.
Ross Young had just scored a go-ahead three-point play the possession before Seals ended the game.Â
