Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bobcats Fail to Slow Glenville Offense

Pioneers Take Saturday's Road Rivalry Game

Recap

The only positive that can be taken away by Wesleyan from this game was the spark that Marcus Larsson gave off the bench, scoring a career high fifteen points. The Swedish Senior gave the Bobcats his fifteen points in only fifteen minutes on the floor, including a ten point outburst at the end of the first half. However, the six points that Wesleyan cut the lead to with three minutes left in the first half was as close as they would get to the Pioneers on Saturday. The home squad shot it over 50.0% from the field, over 40.0% from three, and controlled the pace of the game. The Mountain East Conference's top scorer Phil Bledsoe was held in check, but the Pioneers got three pointers all day from Hegel Augustine, Steven Verplancken, and Najee Scott. The Bobcats have badly missed Ross Young while he has been out this week with an ankle injury, and they need to dump this game and look forward to Frostburg State on Wednesday.

What's Next

Similar to this past Wednesday's game against Concord, this Wednesday's home game against Frostburg State is a must win. The MEC newcomers are 3-7 in the league this year, and rely on one player to keep them in games, Daniel Alexander. With Ross Young back, and a gameplan to keep Alexander in check, the home Bobcats need to walk away with their sixth MEC win on Wednesday to stay in the mix with the handful of teams clustered in the standings.
Glenville State plays at WVSU on Wednesday, which should be a fun, up-and-down affair full of athletes and sharpshooting. Two of the three top scoring teams in the league, the two are now only seperated by a game in the standings as well.
