Reed Provides Bench Spark in Loss at Fairmont

Bobcats Drop Final Road Contest on Wednesday Night

Recap

If everyone played like Jaylin Reed on Wednesday night, Wesleyan would have came away big winners. Instead, Jaylin Reed provided a bench spark in an otherwise uninspiring game for the Bobcats at Fairmont State, which the Falcons won 80-69. Reed scored a career-high nineteen points in only sixteen minutes of action, making three shots from behind the arc, and collecting a handful of put-back finishes on his way to seven rebounds. Daylin Lee also joined Lee with hard work on the offensive side, and on the glass, as he picked up seventeen points and eight rebounds himself. It was an extremely sloppy game, with both teams turning the ball over nineteen times over the forty minutes. Fairmont State pulled out the win because of their success in transition, and disruptive defense around the arc and the rim. The Bobcats were held to under twenty percent shooting from three, and they shot under seventy percent from the free-throw line.

Wesleyan falls to 9-12 in the Mountain East Conference this season, locking them into a play-in game next week at the MEC Tournament.
Fairmont State improves to 15-6 this season in conference, and with a game remaining will likely be the three seed.

What's Next

The final regular season games will be played on Saturday, and Wesleyan hosts Davis & Elkins at 4PM. The Senators need a win if they have any hopes of making it into the MEC Tournament as the ten seed, and Wesleyan needs to win in order to keep their seven seed place away from Concord.
Fairmont State hosts Frostburg State on Saturday, and the outcome of that game may have an impact on that final tenth seed, whom Wesleyan will likely play in the opening round of the MEC Tournament.
