Recap
With more than a handful of potential Mountain East Conference Tournament-seeding outcomes stemming from Saturday's schedule, Wesleyan controlled what they could against Davis & Elkins. In order to secure an opening-round bye, Wesleyan needed to win, and have Glenville State lose to Concord. Although the Pioneers snapped their seven-game losing streak on Saturday, the Bobcats took care of business against the Senators 84-70. Playing in their final game at the Rockefeller Center, Seniors
Dusan Vicentic,
Luka Petrovic, and
Clay Todd combined for 48 points and 24 rebounds.
Jaylin Reed also continues to impress off the Bobcats' bench, scoring fifteen points in twenty-four high energy minutes. Coach
Nick Patella's team overcame a five-point deficit at the half, and they did not re-gain the lead until there were just under ten minutes left to play. They put up 54 points in the second half on the heels of 63% shooting from the field and 57% from behind the three-point line. Senior leadership from
Clay Todd helped the 'Cats navigate the final five minutes of the game, after Vicentic and
Daylin Lee had fouled out, and Davis & Elkins was playing to keep their season alive.Â
