Painter Given MEC Career Achievement Award

Senior Track Star Caylee Painter Honored with Career Achievement Award

Buckhannon, WV -- The Mountain East Conference has added a special postseason award for 2020, the Spring Senior Career Achievement Award. The honor is given to one male and female senior student-athlete from each member institution who have had their outstanding careers disrupted by the COVID-19 shutdown this Spring. Senior Track & Field star Caylee Painter is the Women's award-winner for West Virginia Wesleyan.

A native of Liberty, WV, Painter competes in Multis and Sprints for West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Track, and was just coming off of a strong Indoor season before the shutdown. This Winter, she set a new individual school record in the 400M with a 58.28, breaking the previous record by over a full second. She is also a member of the school-record holding 4x400 team (3:56).

Her bookcase has some hardware, holding MEC Champion trophies from 2018 in the 4x100, and the 4x400 relays. Her success on the track has also translated to the classroom, holding a 3.57 GPA in Exercise Science. She is a two-time member of the All-MEC Academic Team and the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Painter is an active member of campus and Greek Life, serving as the Vice President of Membership for Alpha Xi Delta.
