Cash Wins MEC Outdoor Track & Field Awards, Coach Chambers is Coach of the Year

In the Mountain East Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship that ended on Tuesday afternoon in Frostburg, Md., Wesleyan's Samantha Cash took home the Field Athlete of the Year and Most Valuable Performer awards.

Wesleyan's Track and Field head coach Kelsey Chambers won the Women's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year award. This marks the first time in MEC history that a female coach has won this award.
 
Cash won the Heptathlon scoring 4372 points. Cash also took first in the 400-meter hurdles.
 

 
Following is a rundown of all top-performing Bobcats:
 

Men's 100: 

Taiwo Babawle Thropp- 2nd place, 10.64


 

Men's 200: 

Taiwo Babawle Thropp and Royell Salmon- 2nd and 3rd place, 21.37 & 21.45
 

Taiwo in prelims broke the school record and hit NCAA Provo running 21.19


 

Women's 400:

Dakota Johnson- 3rd place, 58.63


 

Women's 800:

Marimo Akita- 1st place, 2:18


 

Women's 5k:

Leigha Hall- 2nd place, 18:21


 

Women's 10k: 

Leigha Hall- 3rd place, 39:30


 

Women's 400 hurdles:

Sam Cash and Aubrey Wiethe- 1st and 3rd place, 1:01.68 (school record and NCAA Provo) & 1:04.65


 

Women's steeplechase: 

Leigha Hall- 1st place, 11:15


 

Men's discus:

Roman Moore- 3rd place, 44.08 meters


 

Men's javelin:

Peyton Slider- 3rd place, 48.50 meters 


 

Men's triple jump:

Michael Hansford- 1st place, 14.83 meters (school record and ncaa Provo)


 

Women's triple jump: 

Sam Cash- 1st place, 12.10 meters (school record and ncaa Provo) 


 

Women's high jump:

Sam Cash- 1st place, 1.65 meters


 

Men's long jump:

Royell Salmon- 3rd place, 6.97 meters 


 

Women's hammer: 

Jacqualin Leaman- 3rd place, 42.00 meters


 

Women's 4x100: 3rd place
