BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (0-4) men's basketball team went toe-to-toe with undefeated Glenville State (4-0) but the Pioneers pulled away in the second half to win by a score of 106-85 at the Rockefeller Center in Buckhannon, W.Va. on Saturday, Jan. 16.Â

Leaders for WVWC
Jaylin Reed scored a team-high 21 points and dished out three assists.
Ross Young scored a season-high 20 points and ripped down five rebounds.
Daylin Lee registered a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Braeden McGrew provided a spark off the bench with nine points.Â

Leaders for Glenville State
Five Pioneers scored in double figures led by Hegel Augustin with 24 points. John Williams added 20 points and six boards.Â

Glenville State shot 52.5 percent (42-for-80) from the field. Wesleyan shot 47.8 percent (33-for-69) from the floor. The rebounding battle was even (40-40).Â

Inside the First Half
The Bobcats started the contest on a 10-0 run capped off by fastbreak layup from Reed at the 17:35 mark. Glenville State answered with a 10-2 run to trail 12-10 after an Augustin triple with 14:51 left.Â

Young slammed home one of his three first half dunks with 9:50 to go as WVWC trailed 23-18. A 9-0 run over the next 2:36 stretched the Pioneer advantage to 32-18. Wesleyan ended the first half with a 7-0 run of their own after a McGrew wing trifecta to cut the deficit to 46-41 at the break.Â

Inside the Second Half
WVWC got to work immediately in the second half as Lee drilled a 3-pointer to push the Bobcats ahead, 49-48 with 16:45 remaining. Both teams traded baskets over the next five minutes.
Cameron Ramage converted an old-fashioned 3-point play with 11:21 left for a 62-59 Bobcat edge.Â

A 9-0 run by Glenville State put the Pioneers ahead by two possessions at 68-62 with 9:31 left ticking. A layup by Reed with 8:02 left in regulation kept Wesleyan within six (72-66), but that was the closest that the home team would get for the remainder of the game.Â
