CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (0-6) men's basketball team never seemed to find a rhythm in a 81-62 loss to Charleston (4-2) at the Wehrle Innovation Center on Saturday (Jan. 23).Â
Leaders for WVWC
Daylin Lee delivered a team-high 12 points and five rebounds. Anthony Craven Jr. registered a career-high 11 points while Braeden McGrew cracked double figures scoring with 10.Â
Ross Young contributed eight points in the second half. Jayden Hibbit grabbed seven rebounds and tallied seven points. Cameron Ramage added nine points off of the bench.Â
Leaders for Charleston
Four Golden Eagles scored in double figures led by Lamont McManus with 16 points. Isaiah Gable turned in a 14-point and 8-rebound performance for the home team.Â

Charleston shot 55.8 percent (29-for-52) from the field. The Golden Eagles outrebounded the Bobcats, 41-27. Wesleyan forced 20 turnovers.Â
Inside the First Half
Two minutes into the contest, Hibbitt broke the early deadlock with a 3-pointer from straightaway. McGrew put the Bobcats ahead 9-4 on a floater in the lane with 17:17 remaining.Â
Charleston answered with a 13-0 run that ended after Craven Jr. made a jump shot to cut the deficit to 17-11 at the 13:33 mark. Two minutes later, Zach Seese drove hard to the basket for a layup through a foul and converted the free throw for the old-fashioned 3-point play as WVWC trailed 19-14.Â
The Bobcats trimmed the deficit to five points again when Craven Jr. sank a deep triple with 5:20 left before halftime as the Golden Eagle lead stood at 23-18. Another pure jumper by McGrew in the final minute of the opening half put Wesleyan within striking distance at halftime behind 32-23.Â
Inside the Second Half
Charleston started the second half on a 7-0 run that was snapped by a Young jumper after an assist by Jaret Mullooly with 16:38 to play. Trailing 52-34, Young drove to the basket for a lay-in with 12:14 to go.Â
A little over halfway into the second half, Hibbitt went inside for a layup as the Bobcats found themselves behind 60-40.Â
The Golden Eagles continued to put the Bobcats in tough spots offensively as WVWC did not gain enough ground in the second half. Ramage connected on a trifecta, but Charleston led 75-55 with 2:40 left in regulation.Â
